Good Friday.
went to ccmc for their gd friday service ytd and thought i'd share smth i learnt from the sermon with the team. this story was frequently used but i've heard it since who knows when. it has no relevance to x at all but =) it's HIM who we run for huh.
why did God die on the cross? why was he crucified? why didnt he save himself and live on so that the future generations can know abt him?
scene: watch chinese dramas right? it's in the court during the olden times where the princesses and palace maids wore those weird hats with strings dangling down
situation: zhen ke lian, for the 4th time, has been caught for stealing chickens. zhen ai mei is the one with the chickens. the judge is deciding whether or not to punish her. mercy or justice?
so the story starts off w ai mei is complaining to the judge abt ke lian's wrongdoing and is telling him that they've already let her off 3 times but she still doesn't repent. then ke lian interrupts and told the judge that if she goes to jail, no one will take care of her 2 children. also, she has already paid for all the chickens she stole and has only twenty yuan left. after much pending and ai mei's whinings, the judge decided that he has been too merciful with ke lian and decided to give her the heaviest punishment which is a fine of 2000 yuan. if she fails to do so by idontknowwhen, she'll go to jail. then the scene becomes so drama where the atmosphere is so tensed. u could actually visualise a strike of lightning crashing down upon ke lian. but b4 ke lian left the courts, she was summoned back again by the judge. the judge gave her a pouch and asked her to keep it. curiously, ke lian opened the pouch, and with much delight, found 2000 yuan inside.
we have sinned against our father time and time again. we've neglected him, failed to do his will and to an extent, cursed him from deep within. God is a justice man and punishes us accordingly but He is the one that receives the punishment. he executes the punishment to us and died on the cross for our sins, in place of us. the price to pay for sinning is there but God takes the penalty himself. why u might ask. cos he is our father and loves us deeply. he isnt trying to act like some hero that saves the day as hanging on the cross? it ain't an easy thing. it isn't just like an x trg where all u need is mental power and physical strength to overcome it. ok i'm being lame here(for those who still doesn't know what i mean. cross, x, cross, x, get it? XD)..but it's true.
so yea, end of story. hope that story, in a way or another, spoke to u. so next wk DJW, hope u all seriously worship Him with all ur heart!
